Young Hitler

The formative years of a dictator
1889–1914

February 29, 2020 – February 7, 2021

75 years ago, the Second World War ended, after having been unleashed by Adolf Hitler and the National Socialists. We take this as an occasion to inquire about the beginnings: where did the militarism, racial hatred and anti-Semitism come from? How deeply was it anchored in society, even before the outbreak of the First World War? A parallel narrative presents Hitler's biography up to 1914 and the political movements of the time.

Curators: Christian Rapp, Andrea Thuile, Benedikt Vogl & Hannes Leidinger.

TIP: In the museum shop you can get the biography that forms part of the exhibition and provides in-depth insight into the topic.
