Between 18 February and 31 May 2016 the public was invited to actively participate in the creation of the House of History. „The collection campaign, a tried-and-tested, effective means of making the memories and stories of the people come alive and incorporating them in the representation of the history of our province,” says Provincial Governor Dr. Erwin Pröll. People were asked to contribute artefacts dating from the time of the First Republic, i.e. 1918 to 1938.
During this time, six employees from the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for War Consequences Research answered 537 calls, replied to more than 300 emails and spoke a total of 36 hours with potential lenders. Together with the collection Saturdays in Museum Niederösterreich, approximately 3,000 artefacts were offered, documented, examined and entered into a central database. Those who missed the campaign can still send emails to the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for War Consequences Research: E-Mail.
